African Blackwood

The Ariz-H,

inspired by the guitars of the famous masters.

But with a contemporary design. The last model of Riemersma Guitars is the Ariz-H and the Ariz-R. Derived from the famous master Luthiers of the world, but with a completely personal vision as regards the braces on the top. This guitar has a nice warm bass with a long sustain and sparkling high over the whole range.

“Deze concert gitaar heeft een warme krachtige bas en een helder hoog. Lekker veel power en heeft een gelijkmatige overgang tussen laag en hoog. Wat een fijne gitaar om te bespelen.” H. K.

But what an exceptional piece wood has the back and sides of this guitar. This is a real ‘once-in-a-life-time’ African Blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon) very exclusive set. A real rosewood. Resulting in an exceptional response and balance of all the individual strings.

The standard dimensions of a Ariz-H guitar are:

– 65 cm Scale.

– Total length 98.5 cm.

– Length of the body 48.5 cm.

– Width of the body bottom 37.5 cm.

– Width of the body top 28 cm.
– Waist 24 cm.

– Thickness of the body 9.5 cm.

– Width of the finger board at topnut 54 mm.

– Width of the finger board at 12th fret 64 mm.

The wood for guitars is personally selected by Ramon Riemersma and he only uses high-quality wood and parts.

An important process during the construction of a guitar to keep the quality of the wood in top shape.
Therefore any Riemersma guitars are built exclusively at the correct humidity and temperature.

  • Top European Spruce AAA
  • Back and sides African Blackwood
  • Cedrela Neck
  • Mosaic rosette
  • Ebony Bindings
  • Ebony fingerboard
  • 2K lacquer high gloss finish
  • Handmade Baljak machine heads with African Blackwood buttons

This is my last guitar from the Ariz-R series, derived from the famous Spanish luthiers, with African Blackwood back and sides and Spruce top. The machine heads of this guitar are by Baljak and are handmade from brass with African Blackwood buttons. Particular is of course the beautiful back with a subtle piece of sapwood what is so contrasting with the heartwood.

This concert guitar has a warm, powerful bass and clear high. Lots of power and has a smooth transition between low and high. What a great guitar to play.

“Ramon creates a beautifully shaped instrument, error free and manually. He experimentally in woods and in the sound box is the secret of the singing bar structure, inspired by the Hauser formula. So you get a balanced instrument with an intensive focus on the low. The E and A strings give a sound, that you can compare with a fretless bass. The total balance sheet, including projection, has the sound of a piano. I do not know as much as sound from a classical guitar.”

Nicky Moeken, Gitaarplus
